Watch as Big Cat Rescue staff and volunteers neuter TJ the tiger. TJ was rescued from Savage Kingdom that was a well known breeding facility producing what we call "throw away tigers" so many tigers are born lame and cross eyed from the inbreeding that's required in order to produce white tigers. Whilst we were neutering TJ we took the opportunity to do a full examination of him which included taking blood for analysis and giving him an I.D microchip. Big Cat Rescue is home to more than 100 big cats that have been abused and abandoned. In 2008 BCR rescued Joseph's pride, two lions and two tigers. They had been used as props in photos and their claws and canines were removed. When the facility that abused them abandoned the cats BCR stepped in and rescued the pride.

Whiskey Joe's restaurant and Bar recently had it's grand opening in Tampa. They are very generously donating a portion of each customers bill to Big Cat Rescue to help take care of these cats, Whiskey Joe's also offer customers the opportunity to donate directly to Big Cat Rescue when paying for their meal and stocks our brochures at the front desk. Near Tunas, Missouri there is a backyard cage housing two tigers. The cage is in the corner of a three sided barn. There is no outside play yard for the tigers. The cage does not have a lock on the door either. This is not safe for the community and the situation is quite sad for the tigers. Please contact the Missouri Law makers through www.CatLaws.com and let them know Missouri needs new laws.

When a swelling was noticed on the ear of one of our bobcats, we decided to sedate Windstar in order to drain the fluid from his ear. We then stitched the incisions open so no further problems would occur. Windstar had been relocated to another enclosure the previous week, so we could renovate his. Joseph's Pride are two lions and two tigers that were rescued from a facility in Columbus, Ohio on october 19th, 2007. This rescue was made possible by the support of IFAW (the International Fund for Animal Welfare) and by all of our supporters who helped us raise the money to rescue these cats. As you can see in this update all four cats are doing very well and are enjoying their one acre enclosure complete with pool and long grass to play and hide in! We offer a variety of different tours at Big Cat Rescue, from regular guided tours of the sanctuary to feeding tours where you get to watch the big cats chomping down on their dinner up close! We also offer night tours where you are guided around Big Cat Rescue with the aid of a flashlight, when the cats are at the most active for a totally different experience! Our Big Cat Keeper Tour is our most popular and offers guests an exclusive behind the scenes experience found nowhere else in the world, that is respectful to the animals and safe for the guests. The experience is divided into two parts: Enrichment (making toys and treats for the cats and watch as a keeper hands out what you've made) and Operant Conditioning featured in this video, which is a training session between the cats and a keeper.
