West Pines Golf Club opened with 9 holes in 1965, with 9 additional holes built several years later. In 2004, the City of Douglasville purchased the existing golf course. Wanting to keep the golf course as "green space", Mayor Mickey Thompson and the City Council hired HMS Golf of Woodstock to redesign, rebuild and manage the golf course. HMS Golf subsequently hired local golf architect and former PGA Tour player, Bill Bergin to design the course. Forefront Construction began the reconstruction in early 2005. The result was a brand new golf course with 18 new holes, a practice tee and putting green. The course opened on December 26, 2005 to rave reviews, playing over 30,000 rounds in it's first full year of operation. In the fall of 2006, the new clubhouse opened in time to host the City of Douglasville's annual charity golf tournament.

The greens here are usually in superb condition and some of them can seem impossible due to tricky pin placements. There are plenty of big trees on the course to cause problems, and water will come into play on a couple of the holes.

The 280 acres that is now The Legacy Golf Resort was once a 7,500-acre ranch once owned by Dwight B. Heard at the turn of the century. The original three-grain silos, built in 1902, still remain along the 18th fairway and were once the tallest structures in Maricopa County. The Sierra Vista House, which marks the 1st tee, was visited on occasion by Theodore Roosevelt and Pancho Villa in the early 1900`s.

Toka Sticks Golf Course (formerly Williams Air Force Base Golf Course) is located 5 miles south of U.S. 60, at the intersections of Power and Williams Field Roads. The Original front 9 holes were built over 40 years ago and the back 9 in 1993. The course is 6700 yards from the back tees and features some terrific holes that will challenge even the best players. Large trees come into play on most holes and require straight tee shots to hit the narrow fairways. Toka Sticks is also known for some of the best greens in the valley.
