The message of Jesus is to go unto uall the world to make disciples, not make Republicans. Our message is a message that Jesus died and rose again to save us from our sins and death Hell. And that is the message. And evangelicals have convoluted message, sublimated that message to a political agenda, they have missed the point.

The most important decision that anybody will ever make is the decision that they make regarding their eternal destiny. Life here, says the Bible, is a vapor that appears for a little time and vanishes away. It is like steam off a cup of coffee, nothing more, compared to eternity. Everyone will live somewhere forever without end. Where you live forever is absolutely critical. There are two options: hell and eternal punishment, or heaven and eternal joy. One of the subjects that is at the very center of Christian experience is the matter of the will of God, the will of God. Throughout all of my life, I have heard people tell me they were looking for the will of God, searching for the will of God, trying to find the will of God. In fact, many, many years ago, I wrote a little book called, The Will of God is not Lost. Because it seemed to me that so many people were acting as if it was lost, as if God had placed his will in some obscure place, as if God were some sort of a divine Easter Bunny who had stashed the golden egg in some bush and all he did was sit in heaven saying, "You're getting warmer," or, "You're getting colder," as we meandered through the shrubbery of life trying to find the egg.

It was a couple of weeks ago that I gave a message on the theology of creation and I told you that I was intending to give you two messages, one on the beginning and another one on the end. The theology, if you will, of creation and the theology of uncreation, a message on the beginning of the universe and then a message on the end of the universe, how it all began and how it will all end.

There is reigning among us like some kind of sovereign ideology these days, the notion that we as human beings are in charge of the future of this planet. That whether or not there is an earth thousands of years from now depends on us. That somehow if we are to preserve this planet, we have to change our behavior in a significant way. We are all very much aware of the fact that we are living in a world that is trying to go green. Thats kind of the idea. There is even now a standard green color that youre going to find showing up on all kinds of products unrelated really, or perhaps sometimes related to environmental issues, just to relentlessly put before you the necessary realization that we need to do everything we can to keep the planet green and not destroy it.

There is even now a standard green color that youre going to find showing up on all kinds of products unrelated really, or perhaps sometimes related to environmental issues, just to relentlessly put before you the necessary realization that we need to do everything we can to keep the planet green and not destroy it.</media:text>

Lets go back to a basic definition just so we dont assume anything. When you say you worship, you simply are saying you give honor to God. It comes from an old English word worthship and it was to ascribe to someone value, to ascribe to someone worship. And so when you say you worship God, you are simply saying God is worthy of honor...God is worthy of praise...God is worthy of glory. Worship is giving honor to God. And it is a life-dominating attitude. It is based on truth because how can you give honor to God unless you know God? And the more you know about God, the more you are able to honor Him for who He is. Because God is infinite perfection, you can continue to be exposed to the increasing understanding of His infinite perfection and thus your ability to give Him honor for who He is increases as well.

As we come back to the Word of God, we really are finishing up what we started last Lords day. I didnt want to divide this message in to two because I knew this would be a weekend when a lot of folks would be gone, but thats kind of the way it worked out and I cant always overcome the spiritual moment and make changes on the fly. So well go back to the passage before us that we started last Sunday night.

You know, when we get into trouble, the first thing we want to do is get out as fast as possible. You want to run to somebody to fix it. Run to the pastor, get some quick counsel. You know, run to the bookstore, get a book on how do I get out of this, right? How to solve all my problems, how to eliminate trouble from my life. Turn on one of those TV prosperity preachers and start thinking good thoughts and maybe you could create a good world in your imagination. Instead of doing that, bless God for what humbles you. Bless God for what humbles you. And know that He gives grace to the humble.

(2 Corinthians 12:7-10) Now if ever there was a passage in direct opposition to the prosperity message, thats it. There is nothing here about success and wealth and comfort and ease and having it your way and seeing the fulfillment of all your dreams and desires and longings. This is about suffering and suffering is the path to spiritual victory.

Is there a danger in some aspects of fundamental Christianity?

No, I don't think there's any danger in it. I think there's a danger in the prostitution of Christianity. Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world." Jesus said to Peter, "Put away your sword."

There's nothing in Christianity that calls for any kind of dominant power, national power, government power, takeover, war, none at all. This is about a personal relationship with god through faith in the lord Jesus Christ.

First, the Bible is true because it gives us the experience it claims it will. For example, the Bible says God will forgive our sin (1 John 1:9). I believe that, and I can truly say that I have a sense of freedom from guilt. The Bible also says that "if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come" (2 Corinthians 5:17 ). That's what happened to me when I came to Jesus Christ. The Bible changes lives. Someone has said that a Bible that's falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn't. That's true because the Bible can put lives together. Millions of people all over the world are living proof that that is true. Maybe you know one or two of them. They've experienced the Bible's power.

How should you react when your government doesn't honor God? Is it worth your time to contact legislators to express your concerns about a proposed law or an unjust tax? And should the workings of government be much of a concern to you at all? Aren't we all better off leaving political matters up to others, focusing instead on obeying God's Word and proclaiming the gospel? Romans 13 can help you get a handle on those important questions.

(1 Peter 1:3-5) Lately Ive had the occasion to fly a lot around the country, preaching here and there. Even though Im here on Sundays, it seems like my weeks have been spent in airports, sometimes for a long time, as Ive had mechanical delays and things like that. And Ive become very much aware of a book that I knew was out there but I see literally all over all the airports that Ive been in, in the last month or so, it has been labeled, at least, the best selling religious book of the time. The title of it is Your Best Life Now. I have seen stacks and stacks and stacks of those books everywhere Ive gone.

On July 20, 1969, the world held its breath and watched as Michael Collins, Edwin Aldrin, and Neil Armstrong brought a 230,000-mile trip through space to a dramatic climax. In a blizzard of blowing white dust, they had come to rest on the surface of the moon.

The impact of Apollo 11 and Neil Armstrongs giant leap has been felt by every generation since. NASA brought science into the living room, demonstrating that with teamwork and God-given ingenuity, what seemed improbable or impossible was actually within reach.

We open the Word of God now to Luke chapter 21...Luke chapter 21. And this will be the fifth in our series of messages on the signs of the return of Jesus Christ...the signs of the return of Jesus Christ. And to understand His return, we are sitting at His feet and hearing Him speak about it.
