It is a huge underwater plateau on the edge of the Cayman trench. The top of the wall is flat at about 25-30 feet and when you get to the edge of the wall, it is a shear vertical drop to thousands of feet of depth! It is an impressive wall to see and there is a lot of great marine life on the wall as well as on top of it.

The wall is like Swiss cheese - peppered with lots of cracks, crevices and swim throughs. We saw a lot of really interesting animals on this dive including a Goliath Grouper, Caribbean reef shark, eagle ray feeding and several large Nassau groupers. We also found a small cave in the shallows filled with thousands of silversides that were being fed upon by bar jacks and black jacks.

Keith Tibbetts is the only Russian warship in the Western Hemisphere that is within recreational diving limits. It served as a missile frigate in the Russian navy for years before being intentionally sunk off the north coast of Cayman Brac in 1996. Although the superstructure is beginning to collapse, it remains an impressive site with the bottom of its bow sitting in sand at 110 feet and jutting out over the drop-off. The top deck is at 40 feet, so it is a great multi-level dive.

Advanced because it takes you to the recommended limit for recreational divers - 130 feet deep. Dramatic, because you reach that depth in the bottom of a coral cavern that you enter through a tiny opening in the top of a coral shelf at about 80-90 feet. It is one of my favorite deep dives around Providenciales. The wall is gorgeous and there are always lots of critter around; and the occasional shark. Enjoy!

Normally this is a very colorful and lovely site, but when we dove it in the late summer, a lot of coral bleaching had occurred. So in this episode, we see the reef and talk about the causes and concerns that coral bleaching bring to all who care about coral reefs. The good news is that this site has recovered and is again a healthy and vibrant reef - at least for now.

Despite the absence of the 6,000 foot drop off right below you when diving Grace Bay sites, the walls are very nice, the coral varieties are large and healthy, as are the fish populations. Piranha Cove is an excellent example of what diving Grace Bay is really like. Sharks, lots of fish, a nice 110 foot wall and the top of the wall at 25-30 feet means long, leisurely dives.

A small hole in the top of the reef at 55 feet leading into a cavern that opens out onto the edge of the wall at 90 feet. It’s a bit snug getting through the hole, but well worth it for the view looking back up at the light streaming through the hole, or out to the deep blue of the drop off where the cavern exits onto the vertical wall. Lots of fish and a bunch of young barracuda were hanging out at the dive site the day we were there.

The wall is vertical with many different sponges and coral species to attract the local fishes. In the shallows are the remains of the metal dome built for a French reality TV show that aired briefly in the early 1990’s. Now home to a large school of French grunts and schoolmasters, the dome is one of the best shallow dives around Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Lots of horse-eyed jacks under the boat at the end to entertain you on your safety stop. Watch for the eagle ray off the edge of the wall and the large southern stingray in the sand at the top of the wall.

Beautiful coral canyons have formed at this site, often rising nearly 20 feet above the sandy bottom. Swim throughs and overhangs provide hiding places for the resident fish, especially tarpon. Sea fans and gorgonians adorn the canyon walls and large and unique coral species are found here.

It is located on the East End of the island, far away from the throngs occupying Seven Mile Beach. It's a deep wall, starting at about 60 feet, with lots of cuts in the wall. It is very exposed so there is an abundance of life on the wall including massive numbers of gorgonians and sponges of many types. Nice swim throughs and lots of fish round out the things you'll see on this site.

According to local dive guides, you can find virtually every type of coral and sponge that lives in the Cayman’s on this site. We agree. We found lots of fish, a small hawksbill turtle, a white-spotted filefish, and a very uncommon creature, a giant tunicate. Enjoy the dive!

It is a shallow dive with lots of coral valleys to swim through and a large variety of fishes. The spur and groove coral formations are typical of Grand Cayman East End dive sites. The most interesting creature we found on this dive was a jittery red-lipped blenny in its dark phase.

The Gulf Stream comes in close to the Florida Panhandle offshore from West Palm Beach. Most of the dive sites are within a mile or so of the shore and there is a plethora of wrecks and reefs on which to dive. In this episode, we visit three wrecks off the West Palm coast. The three are the Mitzpah, the PC1170 and the Princess Anne.

Lots of fish pairs, a large hawksbill turtle and a scalloped hammerhead shark in the depths below were observed during this dive. It’s a nice vertical wall with a coral ridge rising above the sand at the top.

<media:text type="plain">Black Forest on the southern tip of San Salvador is characterized by a huge swim-through that takes you from the sandy area in which the boat anchors out to the edge of the wall. Lots of fish pairs, a large hawksbill turtle and a scalloped hammerhead shark in the depths below were observed during this dive. It’s a nice vertical wall with a coral ridge rising above the sand at the top. </media:text>

The vertical wall is covered with wire coral, black coral and sponges. The shallows at the top of the wall are covered with hard and soft corals and sponges. What made this particular dive enjoyable was the Caribbean octopus we found toward the end of the dive that was escorted by two Nassau groupers. The octopus hung out with us until we had to return to the boat.

But in reality, it is also an excellent shallow dive and, in this case, the best thing we saw was just under the boat at the end of the dive. Right before getting out of the water, a 10-12 ft. manta ray appeared out of the shallows. They are rare around the Turks and Caicos, but are seen on occasion.
