They say I'm lucky I didn't get caught video-ing it, because those who have been seen taking pictures of it are severely reprimanded by law-enforcement officers. See the steps? Those were designed by Larry Halprin. You can find them on Fifth Street across from the side entrance of the Central Library. The security guard of the area gave me a hard time when it came to filming those steps. He escorted me away and made sure I didn't take any more pictures. People from all over the world visit the Central Library in downtown Los Angeles for its architecture, etc. My spatial sense is poor, but if I'm not mistaken that was the Library Tower, the tallest building west of the Mississippi. I've always thought it was scuzzy-looking, but it is in fact "one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in the United States." (SunnyInLA.com) Out on my morning walk, I took this of trees. When I got home, I saw the reminder that April 27, (the last Friday of April, is National Arbor Day when the whole country pays tribute to trees! Julius Sterling Morton proposed the holiday during the term of Grover Cleveland back in the 19th century. Morton was a resident of Nebraska, also known as the Tree Planters' State.

(SunnyInLA.com) I'm getting more and more unsatisfied with the zoom capability of my digicam. But I think as long as I don't zoom in, I can manage a few okay video clips. The parking lot across from me is where they have the farmers' market on Sundays in Larchmont Village.

(SunnyInLA.com) We start from the Lodwrick M. Cook Rotunda by the Children's Department on the Second Floor of the Central Library in downtown Los Angeles. The murals are by by Dean Cornwell. The corridor I went down leads to the Annenberg Gallery. The sphinxes are of black unveined Belgian marble and their headdresses are of bronze. The Statue of Civilization is by Lee Lawrie.

The Central Library in downtown Los Angeles has a pyramidal roof. Behind it, you can see the US Bank Tower (aka Library Tower), the tallest building in California, and in fact the tallest building in North America west of Chicago. The Flower Street entrance to the central library is where you enter to get to the book drop inside fastest. (The ones outside are not secure.). It was Saturday morning but oddly there were suited men in the streets! I forgot that I'm not supposed to move around too fast with that digicam. BTW, the building behind the library is the US Bank Tower, the tallest building not only in California, but in all of North America west of Chicago. SunnyInLA.com
