We saw lots of chukar and huns but they were running on top of the snow we sank into over our knees. It was a blast. Sparky was rescued from the pound by a great family, with hopes she would be a great family dog and hunting partner. Craig (Sparky's human pet #1) said the first season was great...she really got into the birds and was excited in the field. This is my first time with Sparky, an evaluation of just what she was about. She took to the Whoa command during yard training like it was old hat. She was energetic and focus in the field. I'm looking forward to training her. This is a clip of the first evaluation...the video was taken by her teenage human pet, Scott. ;o)

Working dogs on pigeons...training for bird hunting. Kevin and I took out our dogs for some training and to play with some video recording equipment. I missed the first shot on purpose, you can see how I pull away from the bird before I shoot. I hit it with the second shot but not solid...it did fall after a short flight. Here's the results.

When scouting a new spot for chukar I was able to capture this sound bite on my digital camera. I must have seen dozens of birds on the short walks I took...I think it was a successful scouting trip...I'll be back.
