Quentin is bringing us something the world hasn't really seen in theatres since the 70's -- a spaghetti western style World War II movie set in Nazi Germany behind enemy lines. With Brad Pitt... that part's new. With a great cast of international talent, at least three languages and more Nazi scalping than you can put in a single movie trailer, it looks like Tarantino's latest is a sight to behold. We've been looking forward to this one since the very first "For Human Use Only" bus shelters started popping up in our city, and the early teasers made this look like a sci-fi film the likes of which we've never seen. Oozing with social commentary, this human/alien segregation story is placed in South Africa, where the wounds of apartheid are still healing. Dear sweet lord this was seven shades of atrocious, and were not even sure where to begin. Not even Destro and Cobra Commander could save it. In fact, they might be Matts most hated part of the entire film. Or was it the American Good-guy Baroness? Or maybe the terrible lead actors? No, it might have been seeing the entire Snake Eyes/Stormshadow mysterious backstory told in horribly inelegant flashbacks all in one movie. Hard to say, really. ~Matt + Nat

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth story in the Harry Potter Anthology, is coming to the big screens after breaking the hearts of fans everywhere with a tragic (yet necessary) plot development in the book. And now we get to see all that nastiness come to life! Word Salad. No other term quite sums up this exposition-heavy BEAST of an episode. With many long-standing questions answered and a few more posed, Ellen's return and Anders' brain-bullet managed to cause a virtual deluge of mythos from the origin and travels of the final five to the end of the first cylon war, the source of resurrection technology and skin jobs... the list goes on. Needless to say, if you've not seen the episode yet, GO WATCH IT! We had an awesome time in San Francisco at a random BSG/Dollhouse viewing in Presidio with Autumn from the Pasadena Auction/Frak-Party and her AMAZING group of fellow BSG fans. More positive than we were expecting with an ending that just might take Alan Moore to school. And we're saying ALL that without seeing all the extra DVD-released scenes that have been shot with Hollis Mason, Sally Jupiter-- oh yeah and the Black Freighter! Since we got all the goodies from Sony so late, we weren't able to make a proper preview for Underworld, so we've incorporated a few words of wisdom from the cast and crew into our regular review style. What did we think? Well, we knew what we were getting, not only because it's a prequel and the story was already given away back in 2003, but because we know what to expect from an Underworld movie: Vampires and Werewolves taken deadly serious no matter how absurd the story. When we went to the theatre, neither of us really wanted to be there... possibly lower expectations than we've ever had for any film ever. Maybe that's why we enjoyed "The Spirit" more than anyone we've talked to. It's a film noir comicbook that takes Frank Miller's last film, "Sin City", and re-applies every single trick he knows to great effect. Despite all the poor reviews for it, we think that if you liked "Sin City", there's really no reason that you'd dislike "The Spirit"! ~Matt + Nat

Back in June, Matt was ready to give The Incredible Hulk a pretty mediocre review, but now that the 3-Disc DVD has been released with 45 minutes of deleted scenes, Matt and Nat agree that this is the ONLY way to see the movie. We like it so much, we want to give away a 3-Disc set to a fellow geek on YourGeekNews.com that leaves the best comment comparing Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk with Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk! In this 3-Disc set, characters are developed, Edward Norton is given a chance to really act, all kinds of emotional beats are picked up and William Hurt is given some real time to shine. It looks like Cloverfield and Diary of the Dead were only the beginning of our Point-of-View horror movies bringing back the glory days of the Blair Witch Project, because now this remake of a 2007 Spanish indie film [REC], is giving us more jostling, cameraman-loving, visceral reality scares. It's hard to say anything bad about any Zombie movie, since the genre runs the gamut from the brilliantly topical to the terribly stupid, and every film has at least one person out there to love it. Having said that, this seems like a cool premise for a movie on its own, so if we can stomach another ride on the cameraman's back, this could be a good one! ~Matt + Nat

We both got a kick out of Wanted as an action rollercoaster with shades of Matrix aspirations, though it didn't quite live up to the expectations set by some of the rumours... or set by the first 10 minutes of the film. But it's a great ride that's definitely worth seeing -- if you've already seen Dark Knight that is. But if you hit the snack bar, make sure to bring back something for Angelina Jolie. Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale had a hell of a task in front of them to top Batman Begins, and with the addition of Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart it certainly sounded like the team was in place. But Matt and Nat think it missed the mark a bit, and didn't quite live up to what it could have been. The major shortfall? Batman himself.
