Conditions for plant life are very stressful here due to the amount of wind and rain, so plants have adapted in unique ways. Mist usually swirls through this forest. The walk from the parking up to the La Roca trail is about 1 1/2 hours up!. ( or another 45 minutes above Mt. Britton). Take Water! and snacks... the views alone are worth the hike.

One of the more special places on earth. Plants are stunted due to the stress of wind and rain, and this causes an ethereal beauty. Mist usually swirls in and out of this forest, but today is a clear sunny day on top of the world! This is the 'La Roca' trail and the view from the rock is magnificent.

It has the greatest variety of beaches of any town. The public beach is very calm, 'The Wall' is for surfing, the point for snorkeling and 'Playa Azul' has the perfect waves for body surfing. It's a small town that is close to the entrance to the El Yunque Rainforest You can actually walk for miles on 'La Selva' Wildlife Reserve, where the Leatherback turtles nest. Great place to retire as well.

Maunabo is a municipality on the south east coast of Puerto Rico. The drive to Maunabo on road # 901 is one of the most scenic roads in Puerto Rico. There are several lonely beaches and the lighthouse to visit. Good restaurants both east and west of Maunabo offer seafood and views. Road # 3 is another scenic way to go north from Maunabo.

The better the guide the better the trip, try to arrange the trip with someone who really knows the facts and can make these ecosystems come to life.

The 'Alcaldia' was built in 1847. Spanish Colonial architecture, Neoclassic architecture, Art Nouveau and Art Deco touches abound. The city still has a very peaceful and quiet feeling to it, cars seem out of place. The city was founded in 1692 by the great grandson of Juan Ponce de Leon. Although smaller than Old San Juan, the impressions of the past reign stronger here.

It is a very changeable beach, depending on the weather and the light. Very beautiful, at times simply extraordinary. Good snorkeling on the rocks off the far side. The beach faces south so with a southern wind blowing it gets a little dirty looking, but the wind usually comes from the NE and Silver Beach is fabulous.

This beach "Playa de la Plata", also called Orchid Beach is on the US Fish & Wildlife Reserve on the Eastern side of Vieques, Puerto Rico.

The flight lasts between 8 and 10 minutes and is extremely scenic. We flew out ofver Fajaro, skirted a rainstorm and flew over the mile long pier just before we passed over the Ceiba Tree before landing. It is a very inexpensive flight, well worth it.
