For his 20th Blue Note album, Joe Lovano delivers a milestone recording, "Symphonica," a bold and beautiful orchestral project recorded largely in concert with the WDR Radio Big Band and Orchestra from Cologne, Germany, with the music arranged and conducted by Michael Abene, the musical director of the big band. The album marks the first time in Lovano's career that he has recorded an entire album with a full symphony. Additionally, all the music consists of Lovano compositions save for one piece (Charles Mingus' Duke Ellington's Sound of Love" where Lovano sustains his tenor saxophone lines to hover over the haunting melody). In that sense, "Symphonica" stands as a full-sound, best-of collection that traces the breadth and plumbs the depth of Lovano's career.

Collective improvisation reminiscent of the loft scene in the 80's in New York City where the musicians seem telepathic and deeply connected in creating arrangements of mostly original songs. Happy and uplifting.

Vocalist & Composer/ Lyricist JUDI SILVANO loves to play with fun-loving and swinging musicians that really listen to each other on the bandstand. Her CLEOME Quartet, features GEORGE GARZONE, MIKE FORMANEK & GERRY HEMINGWAY. Concentrating on Silvano's original compositions with lots of Improvisational Interplay throughout, this is a band that knows how to have fun!!! She has played with some of the greats like JOE LOVANO & KENNY WERNER & LEE KONITZ & BILLY HART & BILL FRISELL & VICTOR LEWIS & RATZO B. HARRIS & INGRID JENSEN & DICK OATTS & RUFUS REID, so she has a pretty high standard.
