Universal Studios Hollywood recieved Universal Studios Hollywood President and COO Larry Kurzweil received the Environmental Media Association's Green Seal Award--the first to be awarded by the group to a theme park - at a ceremony that helped kick off a week-long calendar of events raising environmental awareness. Helping to make the presentation were EMA President Debbie Levin, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and actress and EMA board member Frances Fisher. The stainless steel Globe that has long welcomed guests to Universal Studios Hollywood was transformed into a living plant to emphasize the company's ongoing initiative to raise environmental awareness among guests and employees.
