this goes to show you exactly how hard these girls worked to get this video done. i knew that the last 30 seconds of the video would be a montage of all the combatants as they are either knocked unconscious, or squirm around in pain from their injuries, but i wasn't sure how much of it I would need, or how many shots. so, after each long day of shooting, i would save the last half hour to get an assortment of 'aftermath shots'. i had most of the girls writhing around, rather than unconscious because it's far more visually interesting to see someone squirming around or convulsing than laying still. However, i did have a few of the girls stay unconscious because when i had all of the girls in the room writhe around at once, it started to look a little silly. anyway, here is some of the unused shots, as well as some longer, raw footage of the shots i did wind up using. this is only about 4 minutes worth of what we shot.

circling each other and squaring off. i got it from a few angles, plus a shot of just their feet as they circle each other, with the downed fighters squirming around in agony in the background. in the end, was a three way kick that we shot. I also shot insert closup ups of the girls foot hitting the other girls face, so the girls didnt need to make hard contact for the wide shot. i also had the kicking girl throw the kick slow, and i was planning on speeding up her leg in post-production. (i did that for a few shots in the final video, but this shot i didnt use anyway, so i never had to) some of the squaring off made it into the final video, but their final blow did not.. I shot three different versions of the "final blow" with three different groups of girls, and this was the one that didnt make it into the final video.

The punches, especially in the close up,looked great. our one blooper. thankfully, the actress wasn't hurt... our one blooper. thankfully, the actress wasn't hurt. it was just a love tap. all of the punches and kicks were achieved by using a forced perspective trick. in other words, the fist/feet and the faces were about 6 inches apart, but because the camera flattens everything down to two dimensions, you cant tell how far apart they are in the final video. the basic rule is that the foot/fist has to be in between the camera and the face. this is how the illusion is done. in this particular shot, i didnt place the actors in their spots because the actress throwing the kick had to be walking around, so it was hard for her to find her mark before throwing the kick. in the future, i will always make sure the actor is on their mark before throwing a kick like this was the result. it was purely an accident, and thankfully no one was hurt "

I have the strangler barely touch her neck and apply little or no pressure. then there are two approaches to doing this, both which are demonstrated here. the girl being strangled can hold the other girls hands in place, giving her the freedom to flop and flail wildly without the girls hands coming off. or, she doesnt have to use her hands, but she has to do all her writhing and flailing with her body, while keeping her head and neck still. The girl in the pink ballerina outfit does this well. She is a very controlled dancer and has a real knack for performing crazy body movements. here, she actually starts convulsing and kicking her feet around wildly, yet her neck and head never really move much, keeping the girls hands in place
