Happy New Year!! Squaw Valley USA rings in the new year with Jonny Moseley and your chance to ski with an Olympian. Jonny is now the mountain's Chief Mountain Host, a newly created position whose duties include Ski-with-Jonny days in which Moseley takes time to guide a group around his favorite runs and show off a few tricks. Karey Todd got a chance to chat with him on the lift during today's event.

The season is winding down and in this edition of the Squaw Valley Update we look back on a few of the amazing events that have taken place in the past week. Check out shots of the Lake Cushing Crossing, Tahoe-Truckee Earth Day and the Le Chamois Customer Appreciation Party. Also, last week The Resort at Squaw Creek played host o a very special event honoring ski film legend Warren Miller. Skiers and golfers are in luck as both resort types are now open. You can make some turns in the morning and hit the links in the afternoon. Conditions are still great at the two area resorts still open: Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley USA. Old Brockway Golf course is now open for the season and several more North Lake Tahoe courses will be open shortly. Spring is the time to be in Tahoe if you are both a skier and a golfer, you get the best of both worlds!

A spring storm this week left skiers and riders with a welcome surprise - fresh snow and bluebired powder conditions. The forecast for the coming weekend is perfect for the Truckee-Tahoe Earth Day on Saturday and the Lake Cushing Crossing on Sunday. Squaw Valley's snowpack remains robust at up to 100" on the upper mountain. The resort is scheduled to be open through Mother's Day. That is plenty of time to get up here, take some turns and enjoy a soak at the High Camp Pool and Spa elevation 8200' now open daily.
