One thing I love about living so close to NY is the interesting people you meet on the street when going into the City. I particularly enjoy the street musicians who share their talent on the corners and alleyways for all to hear. I usually stop and give these artist a dollar or two, as is customary, in their open instrument cases on the ground next to them. Recently, Kevin has been hanging out in front of or near the Liberty Theater on Elizabeth Ave, in Elizabeth, playing his sax throughout the evening. You can most likely hear him on Wednesday nights around starting around 9 or 10 pm, but he does make an appearance all throughout the week. Some people see it just as noise, but I really enjoy his presence in our city and think his music really adds some nice ambiance to our home.

So we went our for my sister's birthday to Fridays. I don't know if it was a rapfest or what happening that night, but the jukebox was set to 100% hip hop. This would not do, and so we decided this would be a good time to Rick Roll everyone in Fridays. Once the song came on, a group of people gathered around the music selector, trying to figure out what was wrong with it. This added even more jocularity to the situation for us. However, the joy was short lived as no one in our general vicinity seemed to even notice they were being Rick Roll'd. And I think, who are the bigger "losers?" Those being Rick Roll'd who don't know it (as mentioned by Jose in the video) or us, who sit there laughing at a joke no one gets? Sadly, I think the latter.

You know times is tough when even the squirrel from the "rich areas" are digging through the trash, eating paper to find sustenance. Well, I had lunch in the Watchung Reservation in NJ today and while there found this little guy jumping in a trash can and then surfacing to eat whatever he could find. He seemed to really like this piece of paper and was munching vigorously on it. I couldn't get close because every time I moved he would freeze, and as I got brave (after all, squirrels are terrifying critters) and took a step forward, he proceeded to scurry away. And that is the end of my encounter with the squirrel.

They seem to do more stunts where magic isn't involved, but skill. This is the "Full View Water Torture Cell." No trickery involved... Kristen has to hold her breath while she picks all the locks on her and he cell. They don't put a curtain over the cell, as many illusionists do. They want you to see it all happen. Often times these exhibitors give away various things as gifts or prizes. And then there are some make you work for it. This is a story of just such an instance. SermonSpice.com is a website that provides downloadable videos to enhance messages. There's some great stuff on there. Well, at their booth they had a challenge offered to anyone who dared. There were three kinds of hot pepper of increasing heat intensity. If you ate a pepper they would give you a SermonSpice t-shirt and coupons for free videos from their site. I accepted the challenge myself and then made it a goal to get the rest of our team to do the same. It's kind of a tram that scales the side of an insanely steep clip and come out at an overlook where you can see the entire city of Pittsburgh from. We spent some time at the top, taking pictures, and observing the scenery. And we had ice cream.
